Description

The Civil Engineering division of the Laing Construction Company carried out the civil engineering foundations for the Calor Filling Station at Coryton. H J Cash were the main contractors for the electrical and mechanical work. The site was surrounded by the oil storage tanks of the Shell and Mobil Refineries which were the reason for the development, feeding the liquefied petroleum gas to the Calor station. The civil engineering work was completed in June 1965. The site was to form the new Eastern Region Headquarters for the Operating and Sales Division of the Calor Gas (Holding) Company.
