In 1963, John Laing and Son Ltd bought the rights to the Danish industrialised building system known as Jespersen (sometimes referred to as Jesperson). The company built factories in Scotland, Hampshire and Lancashire producing Jespersen prefabricated parts and precast concrete panels, allowing the building of housing to be rationalised, saving time and money. This Armed Services' housing estate of 1000 12M Jespersen flats and houses was built by the South London Region of Laing's construction company for Royal Navy families, with the 12M Jespersen units being supplied by the John Laing Concrete Factory at Andover. The exact location of this housing is uncertain but may be on the same estate of which Magennis Close is a part.
