Description

The seated man in this photo is possibly J. P. G. Wathen; director and senior general manager at Barclays International Bank.

Laing's South West Region were contracted to construct new headquarter offices for Barclays Bank International in Poole, Dorset. Construction began in September 1972 and the work was completed less than three years later in June 1975. The new office complex was intended to partly de-centralise London based offices to offset rising costs, in addition to creating new jobs in the local area.

This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
