This photograph was published in November 1950 in Laing's monthly newsletter 'Team Spirit'. Its shows from left to right: John Dixon; Eric Durham; L Holliday, Agent; Derek Duprez; Godfrey Day and John McQuaker. Holme Moss transmitting station was launched in October 1951 and was the BBC's third public television transmitter. Television signals travelled as far as The Isle of Man and parts of the Irish Republic. The mast survived until 1985, but a replacement mast was constructed adjacent to it in 1984. In the negative register for the collection it is recorded that the photograph was produced on 22nd May 1985, indicating that this version is a copy Laing made from an original created in 1950.
This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
