In the centre of the photograph is the passageway that leads from the courtyard around which the Tesco's store was built out on to Castle Street. As part of the development Laing had to construct the facade along Castle Street in keeping with the existing architecture using Cotswold stone and gabled shop fronts, even incorporating an existing Elizabethan house into the design.
This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
