Retired Laing employees gathered at the Laing Sports Club on 15th December before setting off on the annual coach trip to see the Christmas lights in London. Festive picnic boxes and glasses of sherry were provided for attendees to enjoy during the trip, and each received a Christmas gift afterwards. The trip was organised by Stephanie Laing, and Martin Laing joined the group at Portland Place. A similar photograph was published in the February 1988 edition of 'Team Spirit', the Laing employee newsletter. Stephanie Laing is seated on the far right of the third row.
