The completed store was handed over to Tesco in May 1989 after just a 43 week construction program by Laing North West. The site had been previously occupied by the Parrs Wood Bus Depot and the clock tower from this building was preserved and refurbished during the Tesco's construction, it sits in the corner of the carpark. The exterior of the building is largely the same today apart from the signage and the distinctive red exterior steelwork and guttering now being white.
