Description

A new courthouse providing 10 crown courts and 3 county courts was designed by the local architectural practice Napper Collerton and was built by John Laing Construction. The courthouse was completed in 1990 and was the first major building to be constructed in the redevelopment of the Quayside. Built in brick and red sandstone from Dumfriesshire, the building has full-height piers supporting a high gallery and also has nautical portholes which overlook the River Tyne.
