Description

The headquarters of Abbey Life were constructed of reinforced concrete; the topping out ceremony was held on 22nd June 1990. The design of the building resembled a seaside pavilion, with blue-green reflective glass, balconies and railings. Inside, the four floors were air conditioned. The atrium extended from the first floor to the full height of the building, with glass balustrades around the open sides of the upper floors. A 27 foot diameter clock, which was illuminated on the hour, was set into the floor of the atrium. A plaque in the centre of the clock commemorated the official opening on 7th June 1991.
