Description

In 1987, Laing Management Contracting won the contract for the construction of Embankment Place over Charing Cross Station. Embankment Place is predominantly an office building, although work at the site also included the construction of shopping facilities, refurbishment of the Players Theatre, and improvements to the station itself. British Rail worked closely with Laing throughout the contract. The site was completed in 1991 and went on to win various awards including a Civic Trust Award and the European Structural Steel Design Award.
