Description

The Festival of Britain was a national exhibition, the centrepiece of which was the South Bank Exhibition in London. The festival ran from May to September 1951. The South Bank Exhibition was intended to display principles of post-war urban design. Following the end of the festival, most of the site's structures including the Dome of Discovery were demolished; the Royal Festival Hall remains and the site has since been redeveloped into the South Bank Centre.
