The caption on the reverse of the photograph reads: “New nurses’ home opened at Hornsey. The new nurses’ home in connection with the Hornsey District Nursing Association was opened at Hornsey, London, N., yesterday (March 30th), by the Mayor of Hornsey. It is called the J. P. Watt Memorial Home in honour of the late Miss Watt, who, in 1926, organised a provident nursing scheme and did pioneer nursing work in Hornsey. The home has cost over £5,000. Photo shows:- The spacious kitchen at the new home.”

The J. P. Watt Memorial Home for Nurses was officially opened in March 1939. The home was built in memory of Miss Watt, who retired in 1938 and died in 1939. She had served in the Queen’s Institute of District Nurses for 29 years. The exact location of the Memorial Home is not known. See also MED01/01/0284-0285 and MED01/01/0287-0291.
