Description

The original caption may contain language which is historic and which may no longer be considered appropriate. It has been retained in the record in the interest of historical accuracy.

The caption on the reverse of the photograph reads: “In the Dispensary (Pictures taken at the Dulwich Hospital) Pix shows a physician at the patient’s bedside ordering drugs.”

The hospital opened as the St Saviour’s Union Infirmary in 1887. It was renamed several times before becoming a general hospital – renamed Dulwich Hospital – when the London County Council took administrative control in 1931. See also MED01/01/3581-3585.
