This toll house stood on the Fulham side of the bridge, which connected Fulham and Putney across the River Thames. The toll house on the Putney side of the river was a far more modest structure. Two toll collectors can be seen in this view. The bridge, also known as Fulham Bridge, dated from 1729. Work began on a replacement in 1880, around the time this photograph was taken. Shortly after completion of the new crossing in 1886, the old bridge and toll house were demolished.
