Description

The Three Magpies Public House and the attached bowling green were opened in 1935. The buildings were designed by E F Reynolds of Wood, Kendrick and Reynolds. The pub closed in 1998 and the bowls club shut down in 2000. After restoration work, the pub reopened in 2001 as The Maggies. A nearby bowls club moved from The Greet Inn, Warwick Road, to the green at The Maggies in 2005, and restored the ground at a cost of over £4,000. The new club was known as Greet Maggies Bowling Club. The pub and bowling pavilion are Listed Grade II buildings. This photograph was published on page 113 of 'Played in Birmingham' by Steve Beauchampe and Simon Inglis.
