Description

The first Eton Fives courts at King Edward's School were built in 1840; the court shown in this photograph dates from the late 1930s. The game of Eton Fives has origins in the 15th century or earlier, and is a variant of a game played against the buttressed wall of the chapel at Eton College. This photograph was published on page 28 of 'Played in Birmingham' by Steve Beauchampe and Simon Inglis.
