Description

The Witton works were built on electric Avenue in 1900. GEC were some of the most generous providers of employee sports facilities. The Magnet Centre was built in the early 1920s and housed a gymnasium, billiard rooms, reading rom, dining hall and committee rooms. The building was later acquired by the local Greek Orthodox community, and in the early 21st century the adjacent sports ground was owned by Birmingham City Council.
