Description

'Discovery' was built in 1901 as a Royal Research Ship (RRS) and was the first vessel to be constructed specifcally for scientific research. She was built for British National Antarctic Expedition led by Captain Scott but was sold in 1905 and served as a trans-Atlantic cargo ship. Later she was refitted and served again as a research ship between 1929 – 1931 before becoming a training ship for the Sea Scouts and Royal Navy Reserve in London, as seen here.

As of 2017 the ship is on display in Dundee, Scotland.
