Blackett House is a two storey, four bay house with two bay section on the left and gabled cross wing on the right, with Temperance Cottage attached on the right. The house has a door in the right bay of the left section under a stone porch with gabled barge boards, and in the centre of the cross wing is a canted ground floor window. In the gable is a large painted Blackett family crest. Temperance Cottage has a single storey with gabled dormer and one bay, with the entrance on the left. The house was formerly an inn and then a temperance hotel.
