Description

The statue of the Archangel Michael overcoming the Devil was the last sculpture Sir Jacob Epstein created before he died in 1959. The statue overlooks the steps leading up to the entrance of Coventry Cathedral. The photograph shows the statue after it has been unveiled by his widow Lady Epstein, standing on the stage to the right.

This image was catalogued as part of the Breaking New Ground Project in partnership with the John Laing Charitable Trust in 2019-20.
