Description
Gloucestershire County Council had road widening plans for both Barton Street and Nelson Street, the Nelson Inn's site was required for both of these 'improvements' and it was subsequently demolished, its site now being part of Nelson Street. It was the last building to be demolished in Barton Street as part of this plan.
