Description

For Listing. Photographer's note: 'A stone seat for travelling migrants, particularly Irish harvest workers of 1859 designed by James Kendrick. Its design is a stepped shape with doming to the central seat providing an easy resting position for an adult, leaning with elbows on knees, with space for companions or baggage to be rested off the ground. The lower steps were intended for children or to provide a foot rest for nursing mothers.'
