Description

The series contains black and white negatives of ground views taken by the postcard publisher Lilywhite & Company of Brighouse, Yorkshire.

The collection is arranged by alphanumeric reference codes which incorporate a letter code derived from the name of the town represented by the negatives. For instance, the first negative in the sequence has the code AB and depicts Axbridge. There are a few photographs and printed postcards filed with their corresponding negatives.

The estimated quantity is made on the basis of the number of boxes (22) multiplied by the estimated number of items in each box (1000).

The date of creation for these negatives is unknown but they were probably taken between 1945 and 1970.

Details of each negative are recorded in registers numbered 116 and 117 on the register handlist (AFL03/03) and these give the location of the images.
