The collection contains 36 black and white mounted photographs collected by Gerald Cobb produced between about 1854 and 1900.
They show the following buildings (quantities in brackets): front of Wells Cathedral taken by Roger Fenton (1); sculptures and North porch of Bristol Cathedral (5); doorway of Barfreston church, Kent taken by G.A. Wattlins in 1854 (1); unidentified church taken by Ernest Edwards of 20 Baker Street, London (2); Westminster Abbey (1); York Minster (2); the round chapel, Ludlow Castle (1); Wroxton Abbey, Oxfordshire (1); views of Durham including the Cathedral and Castle (3); King's College, Cambridge (2) including one taken by W. Nichols of Cambridge; Ely Cathedral (1); Ripon Cathedral (1); unidentified cathedral (1); Land's End (1); Lilleshall Abbey, Shropshire (2); archways at Buildwas Abbey,. Shropshire (1); Archways at Haughmond Abbey, Shropshire (2); Malvern Priory (1); Peterborough Cathedral (2); unidentified cathedral taken for Francis Frith (1); interior of the Nave looking west of Exeter Cathedral taken by S. B. Bolas (1); Rochester Cathedral in the early 1860s (2); and Raglan Castle, Wales taken by Roger Fenton and engraved by the Photogalvanographic Company of London for inclusion in 'Photographic Art Treasures' in 1856 (1).
