Description
The collection contains 162 black and white photographs depicting exteriors, interiors and details (including monuments) of Westminster Abbey and the Palace of Westminster. The photographs, many of which are mounted, were taken between 1860 and 1879. Photographers are anonymous apart from many images taken by H N King.
A handlist is available.
Archival History
The prints belonged to Gerald Cobb (1900-1986), antiquary and architectural historian, prior to their purchase by the NMR at auction in 2000.
