Description

Photography of the Garrison, a property comprising of two curtain walls with numerous gun batteries and ancillary buildings. It forms part of a project to record this complex guardianship property that is partially under threat from coastal erosion. The project included the delivery of a Conservation Plan and a new 1:1000 survey of the monument and the retreating cliff edge. A comprehensive archaeological and architectural investigation was undertaken including research and selective excavation of the 17th century breastwork. This project will inform decisions about the long term protection of this impressive multi-period site with its 17th century earthworks and 18th century curtain walls, gun batteries and redans.
