The collection contains 70 files containing reports, photographs, correspondence and research material relating to industrial sites associated with iron and steel manufacture in England.
The records were compiled as part of an English Heritage Monuments Protection Programme project established for recording surviving examples of these structures. The programme ran from about 1993 to 1998 and most of the records date from that time although overall, the collection covers the 1952 to 2002 period. The records provide an insight into the background and running of the project and its results. The collection was compiled by David Crossley of the University of Sheffield.
A handlist is available.
The collection was acquired by the NMR in 2010.
