Description
The collection contains 737 files documenting sites and samples submitted for dendrochronoly and radiocarbon dating from the 1950s to 2012. The analysis was conducted by the Ancient Monuments Laboratory of the Ministry of Works and its successors, and by English Heritage's Scientific Dating Team. The files contain primary laboratory data (including the original radiocarbon dating certificates) that is vital to any assessment of the radiocarbon dates themselves, as well as the sites from which they come. These radiocarbon dates have been published in English Heritage's radiocarbon datelist series where the information contained in these files is presented, along with a critical assessment of the quality of these dates. Archival History
The files were compiled from a variety of sources by the Scientific Dating Team of English Heritage. They were transferred to The English Heritage Archive in 2012.
