Description

This series consists of 7 albums of mounted colour and black and white prints documenting various completed buildings by the Alnwick based, Northumberland architectural firm Reavell and Cahill.

The albums include images of domestic properties and war memorials; financial banks for the companies Barclays, Martins and Williams Deacon’s; Postwar council housing and flats; Roman Catholic Schools, including primary, secondary and higher education colleges; Industrial factories and offices; Roman Catholic Churches in Gateshead and Sunderland.

The prints are collated around different themes and are generally collated geographically. There is some duplication within the series, the majority of these arise in album RAC01/01/02.

5 albums (RAC01/01/03- 07) include images that are attributable to professional photography firms based within Newcastle upon Tyne. The most regular occurrence is for Philipson and Son/Philipson Studios, although others have been attributed to Turners Photography Limited. Where known, the unique image reference codes for these third parties has been added to the L5 records.
