Description

From 1993 to 1996 significant new archaeology showing on photography resulting from the annual reconnaissance programme was sketch-plotted at 1:25,000 scale for the Yorkshire Wolds area only. This was simply a method of keeping up-to-date with the results from recent reconnaissance in what is, archaeologically, a very busy area; the main aim being to inform the continuing reconnaissance programme. The sketches were never intended as archive objects nor was there any kind of written record to support the transcriptions. The work was done by various staff members and students on placement. The locational and metrical accuracy of the features depicted are very variable. The original overlays have since been digitized using AutoCAD. This digital version is currently used to inform the Reconnaissance Recording Programme, which is an annual recording programme to record new archaeology from photographs resulting from annual reconnaissance.
