West Yorkshire Metropolitan County Council and Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England, worked on a joint venture to record rural houses in West Yorkshire. The survey was carried out over a three year period, roughly between 1980-1983 and recorded a selection of houses illustrating the evolution of domestic architecture and the development of society between the 15th to early 19th centuries. The survey resulted in the publication 'Rural Houses of West Yorkshire 1400-1830', (1986).
