Description

A 1:2500 scale, photogrammetric survey of the plough-levelled archaeological features in and around the Roman town of Silchester (Calleva Atrebatum) was carried out by the Air Photographic Unit of the RCHME between 1989 and 1995. The project was requested by Professor Michael Fulford of the University of Reading in 1989. The original brief was to plot the intra-mural street pattern, the extra-mural street pattern and any earthworks between the town defences and the Inner and Outer Earthworks. A second stage of the project would then plot all the intra- and extra-mural features relating to the town and the earlier earthworks. Formerly AF1067562
