Description

Aerial reconnaissance by the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England in 1994-5 revealed cropmarks of a broad ditch cutting off a promontory on the west facing edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. The discovery of an Iron Age hoard below the promontory led to the commissioning of a geophysical survey; This project represents a rapid assessment of air photo evidence held in the NMR collection undertaken by English Heritage York office to assist the planning of the geophysical work.
