Wimpole estate was surveyed in January and February 1997 and between January 1998 and August 2000 by the RCHME Cambridge Office, in a project designed to complete the record of visible archaeological features in the core area of the landscape park and at two other locations where earthworks survive: Cobb's Wood and Thornberry Farm. The work jointly funded by the RCHME and the National Trust comprises an overall survey at 1:2500 scale undertaken by air photographic transcription and subsequent enhancement in the field, together with selected ground survey at a scale of 1:1000
