Description

The album consists of 72 photographic prints and 4 photocopies of prints. Three further prints have been removed from the album. The photographs include exterior shots of the elevations of the building, the bakery on the roof, and the clock tower, and interior shots of the cafes, the sales floors, the public toilets, the kitchens, and the staff facilities. The building was completed in July 1938, and it is likely that the photographs were taken soon after this. The prints are mounted on pages numbered 2-80, and each print has a description of location and materials used in construction. At the front of the album is a description of the store design, accommodation and layout.
