Photography by Bob Skingle in 2006 for a book 'The Origins of Sunderland' by Maureen Meikle and Christine Newman, covering the history of the town up until 1719, planned for publication early in 2007.
Work on the history of Sunderland began in 2002 but entered a new phase in September 2004 with the launch in County Durham of the England's Past for Everyone project (EPE). This four year project involves research by historians and volunteers to result in the production of 3 volumes about Sunderland, of which the above is 1.
