This series contains 153 slides showing farmhouses and former farmhouses, including approx. 27 which show buildings in Wales, Scotland, Channel Islands, and Ireland. There is wide coverage across English counties, in particular Essex, Lancashire, Somerset Cumbria, and Suffolk. Both unrestored and restored farmhouses are shown, and some buildings have been converted into private dwellings no longer attached to farms. The buildings shown range in age from the 16th century onwards. Vernacular architect such as Wealden houses is common, and building types include longhouses, yeoman farmhouses, and timber framed houses. As well as shots of buildings, there are distant views of farmhouses within the series which also feature rural landscapes.
