Description

Photograph album incorrectly labelled 'photos Jesperson' containing 55 black and white prints showing various different housing schemes using the Sectra building method. In 1962 John Laing and Son Ltd acquired the British rights to the French Sectra prefabricated steel formwork design for flats. The photographs show the construction of Sectra block of flats at Heywood and include views of completed flats and interior of show flat. Also included are photographic copies of architectural perspective drawings of Sectra flats at Hulme, Smethwick, Sunderland, Rathcoole (Northern Ireland) and Londonderry as well as details showing construction, and aerial views and details of the construction of French prison, Maison d'arret de Paris Penitentiaire de Fleury Merogis using the Sectra system.
