211 drawings relating to the maintenance, repair, conservation and interpretation of Conisbrough Castle from 1930 to 1995. Although there are site plans of the whole castle, some produced for publication and others as general surveys, it is the keep and especially its reflooring and new roof that feature in the collection.
The drawings include: a general site survey, 1953; new door and windows for the keep and chapel 1953-1954; new main entrance gate piers, 1953; survey of the keep showing all floors, 1958; fireplaces in the keep with repairs to the supporting lintel, 1958; new doors to the 1st floor garderobe of the keep, 1958; proposed new railings to the roof walk of keep, 1960; grille to 1st floor window of keep, 1967; proposed extension to the Custodian's House, 1967; survey of the fore building, 1972; options for a timber or concrete staircase to the south of the keep, with apparent preference and more detailed drawings for the concrete one, 1972-1973; survey of the fallen gatehouse, 1973; plans of excavated structures in the bailey, 1970s; new grilles for latrine pits, 1977; electrical services to the keep, 1981; heating and electrical services to the Custodian's House, 1984; topographic survey of the site, 1990; elevations indicating repairs to the stonework to the intra-mural stair passage, 1990; floor and roof repairs to the keep, 1993; publication plans of the site, 1980s; photogrammetric elevations of keep interior, 1993; reroofing and reflooring of the keep, 1993; details of roof steel for the keep, 1994.
Additional sheets mostly from the late 20th and early 21st centuries show required works to the walls, windows, floors and roofs of the extant buildings.
