179, Stoke Newington Church Street N16 - Hackney
The western half of a mid C18 house, converted to shops in C19. The building, including an unusual C19 extension to the rear side, was in use as a Chinese restaurant at ground floor level with staff accommodation above. Planning Permission was granted for conversion and extension to the rear to form a shop and flats in 2018, but the scheme has yet to be implemented. There are both structural and asbestos issues. The building has been vacant for several years and is in poor condition. Recently sold, the Local Authority are in discussions with the new owner.
