Description

Notice: Some of the services provided by the Surrey HER team are currently disrupted due to our recent office move. We have limited access to office-based resources (grey literature, published materials, and the physical archive) so may not be able to fulfil enquiries that require such resources. It may also be more difficult than usual to arrange an in-person visit to the HER. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. The HER remains contactable, and can continue offering most of its usual search and enquiry services with some limitations to the information we are able to access. Surrey HER Description: The record has expanded from its original focus on archaeological sites and monuments to include information relating to all aspects of the historic environment, notably historic buildings and landscape features such as parks and gardens. Details of excavations and archaeological surveys are also added to the record together with environmental information. The archive currently contains over 24,000 records relating to archaeological monuments and historic buildings, and another 17,000 covering pieces of archaeological work undertaken in the administrative county of Surrey.
