- II Country house. Now offices. 1768. Extensive additions mid and
late C19 and mid C20. Brick with ashlar dressings. Hipped and
gabled plain tile roofs. Single coped gable. Ashlar plinth,
blocking course, string course, coped parapet. 5 side wall and 2
ridge stacks. 2 and 3 storeys, 15 unequal bays. Windows are
glazing bar and plain sashes. South east front has to left,
gabled outbuilding and 3 storey addition, 5 bays, with regular
fenestration. Main front has central flight of 3 semi-circular
steps with curved handrails and twist balusters, keystoned
doorcase with intermittent rustication and late C19 iron lamp
brackets. Flanked by 2 plain sashes. Above, taller central sash
with clock in lower part. Flanked by 2 sashes. Above, 5 smaller
sashes. To right, 2 storey flat roofed addition, 2 bays. To
right again, flat roofed billiard room with 3 bay blind arcade,
moulded cornice and coped parapet. C20 fenestration. Rear
elevation has to left billiard room and mid-C20 addition, 3 bays,
with casements. Main rear elevation has 5 sashes and above, 5
similar sashes. Above again, 5 smaller sashes. Late C19
addition, to right, has regular fenestration. Interior has
dogleg stair with intermediate landing, ornamented string, fluted
vase and stem balusters, ramped scrolled handrail. Front living
room has Adam style timber fireplace with columns. Panelled
plaster ceiling with central rosette and moulded cornice.
Secondary dogleg staircase with turned newels, ball finials and
vase and stem balusters. 6 panel doors, 2 with fanlights. Door
containing stained glass device of West Bridgford U.D.C., c.1888.
