UFFINGTON BROAD STREET SU3089 (North side) 11/161 The Laurels

GV II

House. Early/mid C18. Chalk ashlar divided by single brick course from sarsen base; chalk quoins, brick quoining at base; Welsh slate roof; brick stacks. Original 2-unit plan, Edwardian rear and side wings. 2-storey, 3-window range. Timber lintel over 6-panelled (2 glazed) Edwardian door with moulded architrave and gabled Edwardian porch; flat arch of chalk voussoirs with projecting keys over C20 casements. Gabled roof; end stacks. Interior: Edwardian 4-panelled doors straight-flight stairs with turned balusters in rear wing, marble fireplace decorated with swags etc in front left room. One-bay, 2-storey, roughcast additions to left, and also brick and slate rebuilding of original rear lean-to of c.1910 at rear.
