ST8051 BECKINGTON CP CHURCH HILL (East side) 15/36 The Old Rectory 11.3.68 GV II House,former rectory. C17, refronted late C18, further additions of mid C19. Random rubble, flush dressed quoins,
stone tile roof, dentil eaves cornice, ashlar end stacks with moulded caps, 3 box dormers. Symmetrical classical
facade, L plan, C17 dwelling with C18 crosswing refronting. Two storeys and attics, 3 bays, tripartite sash windows
with glazing bars in plain stone surrounds, plain stone dividing mullions; side lights of centre window on first floor
blocked. Door opening to centre in portico; 6 Tuscan columns coupled to each side supporting a triangular pediment
with patera; projecting door opening enclosed by ashlar, central half glazed door with glazing bars, sidelights,
decorated segmental fanlight over. Four bay wing to rear of right return, 2 storeys; restored 3-light stone mullioned
windows with stopped labels. Interior contains late C18 features including doors, shutters, and moulded cornices to
several rooms; that to left on ground floor has a fine marble fireplace with scroll decoration. Cantilever open well
staircase, turned newels, plain balusters, ramped handrail, moulded head brackets.
