Bridge. c.1830. Cast iron with moulded elliptical arch and cast iron trellis parapet. The arch is inscribed on both sides "Horseley Ironworks". Brick flanking walls with blue brick coping. The Grand Junction canal was authorised by Act of Parliament in 1793. The Braunston section was complete by 1796. It formerly met the Oxford Canal near this bridge at Braunston Wharf. In 1829-1834 the course of the Oxford canal was altered to join the Grand Junction Canal approx. 800 metres further west at Junction Wharf, Braunston, where there are two iron bridges (q.v.) also made by Horseley Ironworks and of similar design to this bridge at Braunston Wharf.
