Five chest tombs and 2 headstones; two C18, five early C19:
stone. North-west, chest tomb to Thomas Smith, died 1839, flat
lid, moulded edge, dorner quarter-square balusters, sunk oval ends,
large sunk oval sides with fan fluting to corners. Moulded base.
To east, chest tomb, William Smith, died 1829, as Thomas Smith;
but plain, slightly raised rectangle in centre of lid, north end, a
draped urn, south inverted torches. To east chest tomb, Robert
Smith, died 1837; swept hipped lid, moulded edge, slight downward
taper to sides, with bead outline to panels; moulded top to
plinth. South-west monument chest tomb, Margaret Smith, died
1827, as Thomas Smith, but raised rim to ovals, fluting to ends,
urn on south end, palms on north. Later inscriptions. To east
chest tomb, Mary Smith, died 1789, flat lid, moulded edge, quarter
square corner balusters, raised rectangular panel to sides, fielded
panel to north end, urn to south, moulded plinth. To east
headstone, John Smith, died 1828, cambered top with urn carved on
face: also records his daughter, died 1817. To east headstone,
John Smith, died 1753, cambered top in 3 curves, good rococo
carving, cherub's head in centre. Stone paving links 4 chest
tombs nearest church.
