Country house. Late C16, with large C18 extension to north, and C19 additions. Coursed and dressed stone on plinth, stone slate roof to main section with large stone ridge stacks with grouped diagonally set square ashlar flues with moulded cornice, and large lateral front external stack. Coped verges with finials. Wing to north has slate roof with parapet wall and plain ashlar ridge stacks with straight set grouped flues. Original tall block running north/south of 2 storeys and attic, with double 2-storey range to north, single 2-storey range to east with single storey extensions of C19 to north and east. West front has 2 large gables, that to right containing external stack. Left hand gable has 4-light stone mullion and transom with king mullion and dripmould right across gable. First floor has two 2-light stone mullion and transoms to left with blind single light and square hoodmould between, and 4-light to right with king mullion. String courses between floors. C19 large gabled porch at base with blocking course above cornice, angle buttresses, large 4-centred arched doorway with double half-glazed doors and 4-centred glazed fanlight. To right of porch, long 4-light stone mullion and transom with king mullion and 2 transoms and leaded lights, with 3- light stone mullion and round relieving arch in cellar below. South end has 2-light stone mullion and transom in gable, 3-light below, and C19 canted bay added on ground floor. Three gables to rear of main range, 2 with external stacks. Left hand wing to north has 5 windows, four 2-light wood mullion and transoms and single light to far right, on both floors with string courses between. Left hand bay projects slightly and has shallow gable. Rear of range behind has sash windows, mostly 16-pane on first floor, 24-pane on ground floor. Wing immediately east of main block in same style as north wing, with 2 ground floor windows lengthened. Immediately to north, in internal angle, is C19 single storey billiard room with slate roof and large 6-light stone mullion and transom with 2 king mullions and 2 transoms, and stained glass windows depicting arms of Cripps family, owners of house from C19 to late C20. Additional tall single-storey service wing of C19 to east with stone mullion windows. Adjoining to east of this wing is stone archway with depressed round arch with dropped keystone, imposts, reverse coffered voussoirs and quoins. Decorative frieze and dentil cornice, surmounted by finial with palmette-type design. All internal shutters remain to C19 bay in large room on south-west corner on ground floor, and room is complete Jacobean survival with oak panelled walls with strapwork pilasters, elaborate plaster ceiling with pendant bosses, and very large carved stone fireplace and overmantel with figures and arms of Pleydell, original owners of house till 1724.
