24.3.70 GV II House, now two houses. Second half C15, refronted early C18, renovated mid-
1970's. Timber-frame clad in brick with tile roof. Three framed bays, hall
originally in centre. Two storeys, boxed wooden eaves, band to ground floor,
rendered plinth, five windows: a 3-light casement to left, others 2-light C20
casements; ground floor: three windows: 3-light C20 casement to left, other
two 2-light C20 casements; blocked entrance to former no 43 between two windows
to left; entrance to no 44 between two windows to right approached by three
stone steps has a concrete lintel, wooden architrave and C20 glazed door;
entrance to no 45 to right approached by three stone steps, wooden architrave,
C20 glazed door. Framing: in rear wall two square panels high with curved
tension braces, and large curved angle braces. Trusses have arch-braced
tie-beams, two raking struts and central vertical strut to collar, clasped
purlins and curved wind-braces. The left hand bay has exposed floor joists;
the floor in the hall (central bay) is probably inserted, with provision for
a smoke bay at the left (south end), the roof of this bay is heavily smoke-
