Micklefield 6/330 Micklefield Hall GV II Large house. Early to mid C18, altered c.1800. Extended and altered
c.1900 and c.1925. Red brick. Tiled roof. 2 storeys. 3 bay front with
slightly projecting centre. Early C20 brick porch, double doors with
gauged brick flat arched head, pilasters to cornice, stone coped
parapet, small sashes in returns. First floor central. sash with stone
sill, flat arched head, outer sashes, smaller to right. Stone plinth.
Dentilled brick course to modillioned timber eaves. Early C20 central
pediment, modillioned with a blind oculus. Stack to left of pediment
with panelled shaft and oversailing cap. Ridge stack to right on early
C20 hipped roof. Left return: 5 bays, glazing bar sashes, ridge stack. 5
bays to rear, sashes, ground floor right French windows and blind
opening, ridge stack. Attached to right and set back slightly is 5 bay
lower 2 storey plum brick service wing of c.1900, glazing bar sashes
with cambered heads, sprocket eaves, ridge stack, roof hipped to right
to projecting c.1925 2 bay square block, sashes, cambered heads,
pyramidal roof with ridge stack. Similar block behind with a recess
between on right return, entrance below projecting first floor. Service
range to rear has a double hipped projection. Interior: early C19 groin
vaulted entrance hall and stair hall, Vitruvian scrolled friezes, reeded
architraves.
