WESTON HALLS GREEN TL 22 NE 5/118 South Barn at - Weston Lodge

GV II

Barn. Late C17, rear aisle late C18. Timber frame on brick sill, dark weatherboarded. Rear extension red brick. Steep thatched roof but red tiled rear extension, porch and front lean-tos. A tall 3-bays barn at S side of farmyard facing S, with gabled projecting porch on S flanked by lean-to additions, and added rear aisle. 3 doveholes in gable triangle of porch. Double doors to central porch. Jowled posts, unjowled mid-bay posts, mid-height rail jointed in-line, straight braces to heavy tie-beams, one purlin to each slope clasped by collar supported by inclined straight queen-struts. Face halved bladed scarf joints in wallplate over posts. Old elm boarding to barn protected by front lean-to. Wall studs removed to create rear aisle.
